Project Grading Criteria/Rubric:

 

Directions & Techniques (10pts)

The student followed all the project directions and requirements (dedicated to deceased, skull creation, cohesive design that flows together), used all appropriate techniques (forming clay, adding details through high or low relief, obvious care for product)

Composition & Creativity (10pts)

Final piece is highly developed and shows intention. The student sketched different ideas and translated them to the final piece. NO COPYING images or ideas!

Craftsmanship (10pts)

High level of craftsmanship; everything was completed neat and clean, no extra marks, or super obvious sharp edges.  Attention to detail is apparent.

Effort & Participation (10pts)

Student worked everyday for the bulk of the period without reminder; cleaned up adequately and at the appropriate time each day; took responsibility for their project, work area, and respected the projects and work of others.

#2 Pinch Technique

Challenge #1:

What can you do with a hollow sphere? Starting with a softball size of clay, create 2 hollow halves - pinch pots. Decide on what to sculpt after you think of your moto - the theme of the piece.

1. Functional Piece: Cup, bowl, vase, box, container, teapot

2. Non-Functional/Abstract (just to look at): Sculpture

 

Challenge #2:

1.Subject Matter -What should your piece be about?

Your piece must be based on a personal “moto” either that you come up with or that you find that best represents you.
