Project Due Dates:

 

  • Challenge yourself, but be realistic of short amount of time.

 

  • Friday, 12/9/16: Research & sketches due

  • Monday, 12/19/16: Constructed Sculpture is due.

  • Day of final exam: Bring your artist research with that is on the project notes page.

Project 7: Artist Inspired 

1. Find a ceramic artist
  • The ceramicist can be from ancient to present time.

  • Locate an artist that you find interesting and whose work you would like to study and make your own version in a similar style.

2. Research ceramic artist

       1. Website Resources: You must choose an artist from one of these 3 websites.

 

A. Answer the questions on the table provided on project handout.

    I. Who is the artist? Name, age, where is he/she from?

    II. What type of work does he/she do? functional/sculptural? 

    III. Who or what are his/ her Influences?

    IV. What type of techniques does he/she use when constructing a piece? Coil, slab, drape mold, pinch, or...?

 

B. Find 2 images of the artists work

    I. Print at least 2 images of the artist’s work and staple to this sheet OR Sketch 2 examples below in the boxes provided on the handout.

 

4. Create your own version of the artist’s sculpture
     Now, it’s your turn to create a piece that reflects the artists style and form, but is your own creation. (similar but different!)
     A. Sketch in your sketchbook or on the project handout:
1. Two ideas for your project.
2. How you will construct your project? Coil, slab, pinch, etc.
* remember you are not copying the artist, you are creating something influenced by the cultures and/or his or her style.
