Visual Arts, Grade 9: Various Works from Beginning Art Course.
This class introduces the basics of the form and structures of art making. Students will master the use of the elements of art and principles of design. The history and criticism of visual arts are presented through the use of projects, lectures, films, and slides. This class provides a basic understanding of how to see, evaluate, and interpret experience through a variety of media.
Stained glass design using cut paper. Students chose a saint to dedicate their project to and used paper to make it simulate real stained glass designs.

This is the show exhibition poster featuring a piece created by a 9th grade artist. For each gallery show, I create a written description of the work being exhibited.

Patchwork Landscapes: Atmospheric Collage Project. Students used their own photos as a reference and cut out pieces from magazines, and then collage pieces to mimic the landscape.

Student Works from Drawing and Painting: 10th - 12th grade
Students produced works of art using various art mediums such as pencil, charcoal, chalk/oil pastels, watercolor, gouache, and ink. Students learned to make connections between art and their visual culture while expanding their base of culture, knowledge and experience. Students learned about the elements and principles of art and how to incorporate them in their work in sophisticated and highly creative ways. Many students use work they creates in these classes for their AP Art breadth portfolios.

Student Work from Digital Photography: 10th - 12th grade
In this course, students learned the essential skills of digital photography which included: how to select a digital camera, understanding exposure and mastering shooting with a digital camera. Students progressed to understand effective composition and be able to determine the best equipment and settings necessary to shoot in numerous environments. In the studio, students learned to enhance their photos using Adobe PhotoShop as well as learn artistic techniques.

Advanced Placement Art: 11th - 12th grade
For four years I have been teaching Ap Art at Moreau Catholic High School. Each year, I have had all 3 portfolio types submitted: 2D Drawing, 2D Design and 3D Design. Students work in a variety of media such as: drawing, painting, digital photography, digital illustration, ceramics, and sculpture.

Advanced Digital Design: 11th - 12th grade
Digital Illustration Projects and Poster Designs for Student Art Exhibitions at school. I launched this new course because of students interests in furthering their skills in digital illustration, design, and photography. Students in this course also created poster designs for the student exhibitions at school in the gallery as well as major exhibitions in the Fall, Winter and Spring.

Symbolic Self-portrait Art Project: Typography and Logo Design (Branding). Create a logo design (text only or text & symbol) that includes object(s) of symbolic significance that represent some aspect of who you are, your life, your opinions, and/or your medium (Graphic Designer, Fashion Designer, Photographer, Videographer, etc.)
Sculpture I and Ceramics: 10th-12th grade
In both Sculpture 1 and Ceramics classes, students learn a basic understanding of how to see, evaluate and interpret experience through a variety of media: clay, paper mache, found objects, plaster, paper, and any material suitable for building three dimensional works. Basic tools and techniques are explained, demonstrated and practiced to promote creative expression through active student participation. Projects promote conceptual development of work through challenging themes, artistic styles and cultural studies.

-Theme was based around Earth Day and helping protect our environment. Students worked in groups of 3-4 creating their own stories, characters, scenes, photographs, and then video editing.
